Day 23: Mo’ Sun No Problems!

Today was too pretty of a day to not head to the beach. So, of course, I picked up my sidekick Ashley! Ashley, Reagan, and I hit up the post office and guess what, Ashley’s planner finally came in! I was super excited to see her face when I said, “Oh my gosh, it’s the planner!”. I was even more excited to see her open it in the car and find all the cool stuff it came with. I love getting people gifts. It makes my heart happy.

After the post office, we headed to the beach! We jammed out to some oldies, but goodies! Thankfully Ashley and I have almost the same taste in music so our car rides are never dull. Reagan always gets super excited when we get to the beach, and I have to walk her a little way down so there aren’t as many people for her to run toward. I am so happy with her recall skills these days. She is getting better and better!

As soon as I let this little shit off the leash, she bolted to the water! Look at the wind in her hair! We let her romp around in the water a little bit, she ran a litter farther away, and then I called her back to us. She does this weird thing where instead of coming straight back, she makes a wide turn. It is hilarious.

I think she is the funniest dog in the entire world. Last year there was no way in hell that I would be able to let this dog off the leash and trust her to come back to me when I called her, or to not jump on everyone she sees. I guess she has just gotten older and decided it’s time to be a good girl!

Reagan and Ashley are like the two best friends that anyone could have. I mean, these two are two peas in a pod. At first, Ashley always talked about Reagan not liking her and staring at her like she was going to kill her. Look at these two now.

We walked our usual route, down to the rocks and back. Well, when we got back we saw a doggy down on the other side, so of course, we had to go check him out too. It was a German Shepard and he was way too busy digging a whole to be interested in us. While we were walking to him we passed the best beach bar, or Chiringuito as they are called here, Azucar de Cuba. Thankfully it wasn’t ruined by the big storms that rolled through like some parts of the beach were. Here is a picture of our favorite bar.

It doesn’t look like much, but it is an awesome place to grab a drink on a nice hot day. I was very curious about how the wooden boardwalk looked at the other end so we kept walking to go see it. While we were walking down there we got to see a ton of helicopters flying around which was pretty cool. The pictures I got weren’t great, but here is one just to see how many there were, I’d say about 10 or 12!

I told yall the picture was awful, but those specks in the sky, yeah, those are helicopters. Ha! When we stopped to watch, we kinda drew a tiny crowd. Just kidding, it was only two other people that stopped and watched too, but yall know I am dramatic as hell and like to exaggerate. The boardwalk though, it was awful. Totally destroyed. It really sucks because it was a beautiful place to come to. I hope they fix it.

We finally finished our walk, took Ashley home, and made our way home ourselves. I didn’t get much done that I wanted to get done today, but there is always tomorrow. I did, however, get my laundry done… and for that I am thankful. This time away from Mike has been different than all the rest. This time I feel sad because he is gone, and that will never change. I will always be sad whenever my love has to leave, even if it is just to go to work at a normal job, but this deployment… I am not as sad. I am doing well. Yes, I think about him 24/7, but my thoughts aren’t sad ones. They are so happy. I am thinking of how awesome our last few months will be here. Of all the trips we are going to take, crossing off the places that remain on our travel list. We are about to have the best few months of our lives here so how can I be sad, even for a minute? While I sit here watching The Vampire Diaries, and folding clothes, I can’t help but smile at all the things that are about to come my way. I AM GENUINELY HAPPY YALL! I haven’t felt this way in a long time, and I just want to embrace it! Well, that’s all I have for today, you guys! I will drop some more pictures down below of some of our day! Hasta luego my friends! Until tomorrow!

    1. I absolutely love the off season, but by the end of the month this beach is going to be so packed with umbrellas it will be hard to walk, and it is against the law to bring my dog so she will be very unhappy. 🙂
