Day 29: All The Meal Prep

Although it is already Tuesday, I did my weekly meal prep today. I would have gotten it done yesterday, but the commissary is closed on Monday’s. I hate that. I would much rather have it closed on a Sunday like everything else here. Anyway! It has been a shit day, and I wanted to get at least one thing done, so I turned to meal prep. It’s been a rainy, windy mess so I felt like this would be the perfect task for the day. Turn some music on, have a drink or two (which I didn’t. I ended up taking two sips of my beer and that’s it) and get to cooking. Cooking tends to always make me feel better (because I love food so much). Well, today I prepped breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For breakfast, I will be having ham and cheese egg cups again. This time I put a little more ham and cheese, and a little less pepper. For lunch, I will be having a romaine lettuce salad. I will end up throwing some ham, cheese, and a little Caesar dressing in it so it isn’t super bland. For dinner, I made shredded chicken taco bowls. I really love tacos bowls, and they are so easy to make that is why I make them so often for meal prep. I do like to switch up the meat. I made them with beef last time, this time chicken, and next time I will try pork!

So that is what all my hard work today looks like! I am super excited to dig into these. I will admit that my shredded chicken is a little bland and I will be adding some of the taco seasonings to it (I tried just eyeballing cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, and onion powder, but ya girl is not that good yet!) Do you know what my favorite part of meal prepping is? Seeing it on the shelves in the fridge. It makes me feel so good to know that my food is all ready to go and the only thing I have to do is reach into the fridge and toss it into the microwave.

For four days I will not have to worry about making food. I meal prep because I get too lazy to cook sometimes, and I won’t. So I will just skip meals. This is not how you lose weight. Your body will start wondering when your next meal will come, and it will try to keep all the fat it can just in case the next meal doesn’t come it will have something to feed off of. Eating 3 times a day, and adding two snacks cuts down that “when” for your body. I am so glad I learned this because there were times where I would skip a meal and say, oh well, that will help me lose some weight. When in reality it was slowing my metabolism down. Never again (well, can’t say never because I skipped two meals today being lazy and busy).

Besides meal prepping, I have just been trying to finish the last season of The Vampire Diaries. I cleaned the kitchen (it is dirty again because of the meal prep) washed some clothes and that about sums up my entire day! Tomorrow may be more eventful if the weather cooperates.
